Frequently Asked Questions

Your website looks great, but what exactly does it mean?

PivotPoint Consulting was created to serve as a centralized resource for the private investigator industry. We embark on this mission through publishing resources and providing consulting support to the private investigator field.

The unique part? All our team members are former/retired FBI analysts, so you get the most qualified and experienced support you can outside of the FBI.

What resources do you publish and where can I find them?

We publish free offerings on our website. When you join our mailing list, we will send these offers directly to your email as they become available. You can also follow PivotPoint Consulting on LinkedIn to get notified of when we disseminate new resources.

Is your newsletter delivered via hard copy or electronically?

The Focused Private Intelligence™ newsletter is a subscription-based resource comprised of valuable articles and investigative insight on topics relevant to the private investigator industry. It is sent via email on the first business day of the month. Having an electronic version comes in handy because you can conduct a key word search in your inbox to easily find prior articles you may need to refer back to.

These newsletters are full of additional investigative checklists and resource guides only available to subscribers. Older editions of our newsletter can be purchased on our website and will be delivered to you automatically via email.

I need research support. Can you help me with that?

Yes. If you need some in-depth research done and lack the resources to do it, we have the ability and capability to conduct research on a wide range of topics. When we complete our research, we will document our findings and assessment of the information in a written product exclusive to you, our client. These products are sometime referred to as “white papers.”

We do not publish our research commissioned by our clients to others; however, you are able to share the findings with your clients.

Ideas on topics we can research include:

  • Emerging methodologies and/or technologies and their impact

  • Fraud trends related to a particular topic, and

  • Policy changes and their possible impact on investigations

These reports are available at a flat-rate, not hourly, fee so we can better focus on providing quality information.

What is a customize case strategy plan?

Customized case strategy plans help you focus and prioritize your investigative actions (and save you and your team from going down rabbit holes!).

We conduct analysis and document a plan specific to each investigation. Since all cases are unique and have their own set of challenges, we customize these reports based on each case, but some examples of sections included in the customized case strategy plan include – Proposed Investigative Goals; Investigative Priorities; Intelligence Questions; Examples of Related Schemes; Recommendations for Team Lead; and Case Management Recommendations.

Customized case strategy plans are the most beneficial at the beginning of an investigation or when you have exhausted all known investigative steps and need a fresh approach. These plans are available at a flat-rate, not hourly, fee so we can better focus on providing applicable and actionable advice.

What do team strategy sessions consist of?

PivotPoint Consulting can lead your team through an individual or team strategy session. This is similar to a case strategy plan but on a more micro level. Come prepared with one or two problems or sticking points related to your work or business, and within 1-2 hours PivotPoint will guide you (and your team) to solutions.

PivotPoint utilizes structured analytical techniques (SATs) in our facilitation of these sessions. These sessions are conducted at a flat-rate, not hourly, fee so we can better focus on providing quality input during the sessions. We are intent on accomplishing our goals and not on watching the clock.

Do you offer training?

We do! Contact us with your training needs. You can also join our mailing list and follow us on LinkedIn for announcements related to training offerings coming soon.
