Frequently Asked Questions

What does PivotPoint Consulting do?

PivotPoint Consulting was created to serve as an intelligence hub for the private investigator industry.

We consider the private investigator industry to include private investigators, corporate investigators, insurance fraud investigators, defense attorneys, independent security teams, local law enforcement, aspiring investigators, and crime curious individuals.

We embark on our mission to serve as a centralized resource by providing training, publishing crime (and fraud) related content, and offering consulting support.

The unique part? All our team members are former/retired FBI analysts, so you get the most qualified and experienced support you can outside of the FBI.

Our founder, Melody Bruns, also serves as a start-up business coach for anyone wanting to start their own consulting (or other) business.

Do you offer training?

We do! You can see our current offerings here. We focus on providing training related to critical thinking, biases and mindsets, and analytical techniques, and we have a variety of additional topics we can instruct on. Contact us today with your training needs!

How much is your training?

Our training fee depends on the length of the training, number of trainers, and number of attendees. We believe everyone should be able to have access to analytical and critical thinking training and will work with your company or department to accommodate.

What resources do you publish and where can I find them?

Join our mailing list and follow us on LinkedIn for free offerings and resources as they become available. You can also subscribe to the Focused Private Intelligence® newsletter to receive monthly articles on related investigative topics.

Is your newsletter delivered via hard copy or electronically?

The Focused Private Intelligence® newsletter is a subscription-based resource comprised of valuable articles and investigative insight on topics relevant to the private investigator industry. It is sent via email on the first business day of the month. Having an electronic version comes in handy because you can conduct a key word search in your inbox to easily find prior articles you may need to refer back to!

Additionally, the business day following the publication of our newsletter, you will receive an AI-generated audio version of the article and can consume the content in podcast format as well.

These newsletters are full of additional investigative checklists and resource guides only available to subscribers. Older editions of our newsletter can be purchased on our website and will be delivered to you automatically via email.

Why do you have to pay for it? We aim to provide you with unbiased, educational, and entertaining content without you having to search for the information among numerous advertisements.

I’m in need of consulting support. Can you help me with that?

Yes. We provide a wide range of consulting services, including one-on-one support, team strategy sessions, customized case strategy plans, review of written reports, and coordination with attorneys and/or law enforcement.

Additionally, if you require in-depth research to be completed and lack the resources to do it, we have the ability and capability to consult on a wide range of topics. When we complete our research, we will document our findings and assessment of the information in a written product exclusive to you, our client. These products are sometime referred to as “white papers.” Ideas on topics we can research include:

  • Emerging methodologies and/or technologies and their impact

  • Fraud trends related to a particular topic, and

  • Policy changes and their possible impact on investigations
